Inside the Next Issue: Photographers Redefining Richmond’s Creative Scene

The next issue of the magazine has been in production for two months, and it is the most Richmond issue we have ever made.

The theme came out of a simple observation: the most interesting photography in this city right now is not coming from the biggest studios or the longest résumés. It is coming from people who built their own lane — the portrait shooter working out of a converted garage, the student collective turning abandoned industrial space into set design, the model who started art-directing her own bookings and now gets hired for exactly that.

What’s inside

The issue features six extended portfolios, each paired with an interview about the working reality behind the images: rates, gear, failures, and the unglamorous logistics of making creative work in a mid-size market. There is a production breakdown of the cover shoot — every light, every setting, every mistake — because we believe showing the work is more useful than mystifying it.

Members will get early digital access to selected features before the print run, along with the full cover-shoot case study. The print edition follows, and magazine preorders will be announced on the Opportunities board.

If your work belongs in a future issue, submission calls go up on this site first. That is not a marketing line — the whole point of the Network is that the pipeline from community to publication is real.
